University of Oulu Team Members
Dr. Jianan Huang
Dr. Jianan Huang is an tenure-track assistant professor and a group leader of the Jianan lab of Nanophotonic Biosensors in University of Oulu. He received a Ph.D. degree on reproducible surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) biosensors from City University of Hong Kong, and worked as postdoctoral researcher on scanning near-field optical microscopy at University of Hong Kong, and plasmonic nanotechnologies for biosensing at Italian Institute of Technology, Italy. His group combines plasmonic nanostructures with molecular manipulation methods for single-cell, single-particle and single-molecule biosensing toward wearable healthcare, personalized medicine and early disease diagnosis. Dr. Huang is the coordinating PI of the RamanProSeq project
Prof. Shuai (Steven) Li
Steven's main research interests include system development, optimization, signal processing, automatic control, AI, and machine learning. He has published over 200 SCI-indexed journal papers. He is a Fellow of IEEE, IET, BCS, and IMA, a member of EURASC, and a member of EASA.
Dr. Enock Adjei Agyekum
Dr. Agyekum works with the Biomimetics and Intelligent Systems Group. He received his Ph.D. in clinical medicine from Jiangsu University in 2023, specializing in AI applications in healthcare. His current research combines AI and plasmonic nanopore-enhanced Raman spectroscopy for protein sequencing.
Dr. Kuo Zhan
Dr. Zhan is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Data4Health programme, co-funded by the EU Horizon Europe programme. He obtained his Ph.D. from Beijing Jiaotong University with joint training at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. His research focuses on developing algorithms for interpreting single-molecule SERS data to discriminate among amino acids.
Zhendai Huang
Zhendai Huang is a doctoral researcher in the Biomimetics and Intelligent Systems Group. Her research focuses on robotics, control systems, and embedded automation. In the RamanProSeq project, her work centers on the development of an embedded control system for automatic single-molecule manipulation.
Jostine P. Joby
Jostine conducts doctoral research at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology under the mentorship of Prof. Amit Meller. His primary scientific inquiry concerns the engineering of ultrathin solid-state nanopores. On this project, he focuses on coupling nanopore translocation with Raman spectroscopy.
